Using Corrosion Data to Stave off Extinction Friday, 7th September 2018

Petroleum refineries built in the 1960s and 1970s have trouble dealing with the corrosive effects of modern feedstocks.  Continuous monitoring of corrosin can prevent process equipment failures.  Find out more here

NACE Corrosion Technology Week 2018 Wednesday, 1st August 2018

Come and see Permasense at NACE Corrosion Technology Week 2018 - meet Christiane Lederer, Deston Day and Don Miller our Houston-based refining and oil & gas experts on booth 108.

Celebrating 10 years in business Tuesday, 31st July 2018

Since our formation in 2008 Permasense have supplied over 18,000 sensors to over 200 customers globally.

Dr Christoph Gillessen was the Head of Integrity at BP’s Gelsenkirchen refinery when the very first wireless Permasense sensors were installed 10 years ago: ‘working with the Permasense team, which was just two guys at the time, we installed the 30 first ever non-intrusive thickness monitoring sensors in a crude unit including the heater, which was operating at 360 C. The system worked straight out of the box and within weeks we had precisely measured the corrosion rates and identified where excessive corrosion rates were occurring. The data, which could be viewed at our desks, enabled us to continue to safely operate the refinery processing price-advantaged crudes until the next scheduled turnaround. Seeing the first Permasense system installed and working at our refinery with instantanuous economic value/effect was one of the highlights of my career.’

New application packs Tuesday, 10th July 2018

Hydrogen Sulphide corrosion can be highly aggressive and result in rapid and extensive damage, corrosion monitoring has the potential to offer real benefits as part of the overall corrosion management and mitigation strategy for assets where H2S corrosion is a significant threat, find out more here

Enhanced Oil Recovery techniques are expensive and pose a number of technical challenges, key amongst these technical challenges is the increased integrity risk that that these techniques can present. Corrosion monitoring has the potential to offer real benefits as part of the corrosion management and mitigation strategy where EOR techniques are used, find out more here
